About Messino Cancer Centers

From early discussions to the end of construction, Optimal successfully delivered six new Messino Cancer Centers within six months for the North Carolina communities of Asheville, Franklin, Spruce Pine, Marion, Sylva, and Brevard. Optimal worked with the group to identify suitable options in each market and then provided complete development services including design, permitting, and construction.

The flagship location, located at 551 Brevard Road in Asheville, was the first facility to be delivered with acquisition, design, permitting and construction occurring in less than 6 months. The Asheville Cancer Center is a 2-story 20,000-SF facility comprised of physician offices, 21 exam and procedure rooms, 4 triage rooms, a treatment room with 31 infusion chairs, USP-800 compliant pharmacy, laboratory, and administrative space.

Five additional satellite clinics were delivered in the communities of Brevard, Franklin, Spruce Pine, Marion, and Sylva. These facilities ranged in size from 5,000-SF to 9,000-SF. Franklin was a ground-up facility that required a modular facility to meet the timeframe. Brevard involved the purchase and reconfiguration of a former Rite-Aid pharmacy. Spruce Pine, Marion, and Sylva were complete interior buildouts of an existing office or retail space.

Messino Cancer Centers (MCC) provides treatment for adult patients diagnosed with all types of cancer and blood disorders. MCC physicians provide state-of-the-art evidenced-based medicine for patients, incorporating personalized medicine, standard and nationally accepted guidelines, and clinical trials. The physicians of MCC are grounded in the region of Western North Carolina and we are appreciative of the opportunity to develop their new facilities.
